The example on the following page is indicative of the way all nineteen basic exercises are used to safely cover the extremes of the vocal range for both male and female voices. In the 'Asc' group the starting note is rising for each repeat within the defined range - in the 'Desc' group the starting note is lower for each repeat within the defined range (click here for range definitions) In the 'Flexi' studies the tempo increases with each modulation. These exercises are followed by studies on excerpts from the repertoire to demonstrate how the calisthenic ideas are translated into the singing of songs to realise what should always be the singer's aim - to communicate both the lyrical and musical meaning of the song.

The final section of the programme covers the historical development of the major/minor scale system of western music.

STOP PRESS

I am looking for aspiring singers willing to try this system and have their progress monitored by video or MP3 recordings as part of a post-graduate research project.
I am especially interested in working with those who feel their voice is not quite what it should or could be. There will be a small charge (about the cost of one lesson) for the materials (self-contained CDrom plus MP3 Files) but further consultations to monitor progress by e-mail or telephone/skype would be free. The project will run for about 6 months but the exercise system will provide you with a basis for developing the voice for years. Please register your interest through the contact page.
